H&N delivers second DOL-flock to local production of eggs as super-food<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Cuxhaven (GER)\/Agalta Valley (HON) \u2013 9.3.2026; A new flock of 1.500 H&N Super Nick Day-old-layers (DOL) donated by H&N International arrived at HOI\u2019s \u201cHuevos el Rey\u201d. This farm, operated by Claudio and Blanca Aguirre, produces the eggs for HOI’s \u201cFirst 1000 Days of Life\u201d nutrition program. Since 2025 H&N International supports the International Egg Foundation (IEF) in their collaboration with OneEgg.org and Honduras Outreach Inc. (HOI), who pioneered the initiative in 2017 with the goal of bringing eggs to more people much earlier in their lives! With this second flock, production ramps up to full capacity with a total of 3.000 hens allowing the \u201cFirst 1000 Days of Life\u201d program to expand and provide eggs to the local school now as well.<\/h4>\n\"\"\n\nPaired with production support and technical services the joined effort of all partners helped the Aguirres to greatly, steadily and safely increase the quantity of eggs. Not only the egg supply of the program grows. Also, the market develops from a niche industry regarding eggs as supplementary food into a mainstream future business of modern healthy eating!\n

Scale without fail<\/strong><\/h4>\nOngoing supply of eggs is crucial for the \u201cFirst 1000 Days of Life\u201d program. Growth must by managed well to continue and sustain. When in 2018 HOI and OneEgg.org began their collaboration to supply one egg a day to families in the Agalta Valley the eggs were produced in a small layer house with 400 floor raised hens. Next, the program was expanded into a new 3000 square foot hen house with caged systems to host the first H&N flock of 1.500 birds H&N Super Nick that arrived in February 2025.\n

Quick to big and strong \u2013 Qualities of H&N Super Nick<\/strong><\/h4>\nH&N Super Nick like all H&N breeds is world leading in adaptability. H&N breeds also excel in any egg target, any climate, any housing, and with any feed available, thus giving farmers flexibility in producing with what they have available locally. Being able to produce competitively and to thus sustain oneself in the local market is a key fact for solid future egg supply. Given the remoteness of the Agalta Valley, H&Ns world leading shell strength also plays a key role in making the donation really take positive effect and work out practically. Delivering such big eggs intact to the consumers is a decisive factor that sets H&N International apart.\n

About the the \u201cFirst 1000 Days of Life\u201d program of HOI, OneEgg.org and IEF<\/strong><\/h4>\nThe programs\u2019 goal is to supply a minimum of 100 families with daily eggs over 1000 days. This period starts with expecting mothers and continues over the birth of their babies for at least two additional years. The program demonstrates how the power of eggs can support the critical early developmental stages by providing an essential source of high-quality protein, vitamins, trace minerals, and nutrients to the mother and child during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and infancy stages. The program addresses the nutritional needs crucial for optimal growth and development. This is particularly vital in communities around the world that still suffer from nutritional poverty. <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>\n

Collaborators involved in the \u201cFirst 1000 Days of Life\u201d program<\/strong><\/h4>\n

  • Claudio Aguirre, <\/span><\/b>Head farmer of <\/span>\u201cHuevos el Rey\u201d <\/span><\/b>egg producing farm and his wife Blanca within HOI at Agalta Valley, Honduras will produce for the \u201cFirst 1000 Days of Life\u201d program.<\/span> \n <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Honduras Outreach Inc. (<\/span><\/b>HOI) <\/span><\/b>pioneered the \u201cFirst 1000 Days of Life\u201d initiative, starting in 2017. HOI is a development nongovernmental organization (NGO) working in rural Honduras since 1989 with outreach initiatives in education, healthcare, clean water, community development, spiritual life, and agricultural economic development. The operation is run by a multinational team led by <\/span>CEO <\/span><\/b>Camila Reina<\/span><\/b> and managed onsite by <\/span>Jos\u00e9 Crozier, Director of Operations<\/span><\/b>. At present HOI operates a school and four health clinics providing medical assistance and care to the expectant mothers, as well as a population of 16000 Hondurans in rural areas since 1989. Part of HOI is also a farm with cattle, crops and, of course, \u201cHuevos el Rey\u201d for egg production. HOI is committed to improving health, education, and agricultural development, providing training for setting up small, agricultural businesses.<\/span> \n <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • International Egg Foundation (IEF), <\/span><\/b>represented by the NGOs <\/span>CEO Cassy Price,<\/span><\/b> initiated and coordinated this donation and all necessary processes between donors and collaborators.<\/span> \n <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • Bruce Dooyema<\/span><\/b> of <\/span>Versova Community Foundation, <\/span><\/b>Iowa (USA), coordinates all donors\u2019 donations onsite in terms of time planning, supervision, and interface management between parties and people. Bruce and Versova were also in charge of installing the lighting and cage system in the hen house.<\/span> \n <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          • Paul Pressley, <\/span><\/b>retired from the <\/span>U.S. Poultry and Egg Association<\/span><\/b>, helps as another consultant to HOI as well as an early adopter and evangelist for digital farming assistance in modern farming and subsequent training and education for safe and stable results.<\/span> \n <\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
